So after two weeks of no physical activity (I’ll admit to cheating twice, once playing volleyball, the other a school track meet) it was back to training last week. I was actually surprised at how good it felt to be back at as I expected to lose a lot of fitness. I’m sure my top speed isn’t there right now but it definitely wasn’t the struggle I thought it might be.
For the next two months or so, I’ll be focusing on running and the fall running races. Come December and the cold weather I’ll be working a lot in the warm confines of the pool on swimmming until things start to thaw in March when I’ll get ready for some Spring bike race. And then before you know it, it’ll be triathlon season again.
It’s going to be a long winter of training but as Kyle Hamilton (member of the men’s eight rowing team) said after winning gold in Beijing…
“Gold medals are awarded in the summer, but they’re earned in the winter.”
