Back in the Saddle…
...and the water...and on the pavement.
After a well deserved recovery week (when did 7.5 hours of training become a chance to recover?) last week, it was back to "work" this morning with only 8 weeks to go until worlds.
Definitely felt sluggish at first this morning in the pool (even with my new streamlined approach
) but eventually settled in to some light pace work. Went for a short 20 min run afterwards as well. It's also nice that the sun is up earlier because there is nothing worse than finishing morning workouts to find it's still dark out.
With only 8 weeks to go it also means it's time to get race ready. This Sunday will be race #2 of the season in Sooke (Victoria) to test things out and (hopefully if the heat schedule works out) cheer on a couple tri rookies. Please don't humiliate me by beating me Laura (I get beat by girls enough in training). And well Mondin, you don't have a chance.
Easter Recap
4 days and 18 hours of training later, I'm still alive. It had its ups (the 18:50 5 k running time trial). And it had its downs (completely bonking on the Saturday duathlons). But I survived.
Up for tomorrow, an entire day off to relax, read, write, and if the weather is nice, take some photographs. But first tonight, some well deserved recovery.
1 movie, 1 beer, 1 bag of doritos, and 1 chocolate easter bunny.
Spring Break
It's spring break which is why I'm taking time to learn (relearn really) website design and the page looks so bare. I'm learning fast but I need to stick to the bare bones until I actually know what's going on. Once I'm there though, I've got some good ideas to make the site look really good.
It also means some extra free time for training so the team is doing a mini-camp over the long weekend. The fun starts tonight with a 5km run time trial. I may even break out the video camera at some point if the moment presents itself since I've been inspired by the king (in both video blogging and triathlon).
